Why hire a professional photographer?

Quick FAQs - 

​

*What is the turn-around time for delivery? This is booking dependent. At minimum 2-3 weeks for most bookings, 4-5 for large events or detailed shoots with multiple inclusions. Some products, i.e., photo books, are ordered externally and will have a longer turnaround.  If there is a time-sensitive requirement, such as a business launch, please discuss this with us up front to ensure expectations can be met prior to booking.

*Will you travel? Yes, with a minimal travel fee applied for all bookings 25km or greater from Narangba CBD. Any other bookings, including interstate or wider SEQ locations, will be quoted as required and added to the booking fees. Pixels and Spice regularly services the Sunshine Coast and Greater Brisbane/City of Moreton Bay area.

*Can I have the 'RAW' or unedited photo file? With respect, no.  Pixels and Spice Photography includes expert re-touching services for all bookings aligned to your type of photo-shoot. Clients are provided the jpeg (or TIFF for media/brand if discussed) files in final versions. 

​

*What does 'all quality photos supplied' mean? This means the photographer has used their creative eye to filter through all images and only supply you with the highest quality photos. Any images below their level of quality are removed. 

​

*Can I re-edit your photos after I've paid for and received them? Commercial and media works come with full print releases, allowing for use in advertising and promotions. It is expected that reasonable care will be taken not to reduce the quality of the images during additional design works.  I respectfully ask that personal clients not apply filters on supplied photos, as this is not a true representation of our work.  If you are hoping for a particular style of edit, ask, though I do request you consider our editing style and align your decision to book with Pixels and Spice based on your trust in what will be delivered as per current samples of work.

*Can I hire you for longer than the stated time frame? Yes. An hourly add-on rate is available. It is preferred that this is arranged in advance, but we are happy to take requests at events if the party is still going strong.

*What are your hours of operation? Pixels and Spice operate mostly on weekends, some weeknights, and late afternoons. Please refer to the Contact Us page for general hours.

*Can you design products like photo-books, save-the-date cards & magnets for me? Yes. Let us know what you're looking for, and we'll happily quote and confirm design options. 

​

*When is deposit/payment due? A booking deposit equal to 40% of your chosen service is required to secure service and dates. No deposit, no date held. All deposits for weddings are non-refundable within 60 days of the event. All other standard service deposits (everything other than Weddings) are non-refundable within 30 days of the photo shoot/event. The total balance remaining for all services is payable within 7 calendar days following the photo shoot/event date, and prior to releasing the gallery. Gallery turn-around times still apply.  

Non-payment of the balance will result in the final gallery delivery being forfeited.

*What other services can I request?  Additional hours for photography at events start at $100.00 p/hr. General opt-in services come at an additional fee (sub-contracted professionals) including Hair & Makeup Artists, a Second Photographer, a Videographer, Florists, Stylists. Fees available on request. 

​

*What is the best time of day for an outdoor shoot? Late afternoon is our favourite! Season dependent. Otherwise, early morning. Mid-morning to mid-afternoon sunlight can be quite harsh. We suggest avoiding outdoor shoots from 10am-3pm in warmer months, but there are always options, such as open-shade locations.

​

*Can I download images from my client gallery to my mobile/tablet? Whilst we highly recommend all images are downloaded to a PC/Mac/Desktop device, we understand not everyone has one these days. Galleries are delivered digitally with the ability to download both high-resolution files (very large) and social-media-sized photos. You can download a full gallery in one easy step to a Desktop device, but can only use the single-photo download (at a time) if saving to your mobile/tablet. The social-media size is recommended if you are saving to a mobile/tablet for online sharing only. Pixels and Spice Photography is not held liable for any issue arising from the use of technology on personal devices in an attempt to download, we will, however, assist in trouble-shooting if you are following recommended device download steps.

*How long do I have to access my online client gallery, hosted by Pixels and Spice? The delivered gallery is hosted for 3 months. You can download your gallery unlimited times at all file sizes during this window at no extra cost. A re-hosting fee will be charged however if you request an extension beyond 3 months or a re-load if the gallery is already taken down (charge for 1 month of hosting at a time). Fees available on request.

*Terms for rescheduling: In the event of a request to reschedule, a maximum of 1 reschedule by the Photographer or 1 reschedule by the Client will be deemed fair where reasonable grounds for rescheduling apply. I.e., adverse weather conditions, emergencies, severe illness. Beyond these terms, the Photographer is not obligated to continue to reschedule. Any alternate options offered by the Photographer will be in good faith, but not bound by contract. If the date of booking is pushed back due to rescheduling, the booking deposit refund cut-off date will remain 30 days prior to the original date (not the new date), irrespective of how far out the new date is. Where the date of booking is brought forward, the deposit refund cut-off date applies to the new date, being the soonest booking date to now occur by timeline.

General Terms & Conditions 

*RAW files are not provided at any time and remain the property of Pixels and Spice Photography. 

*Public holidays or dates immediately before or following significant events (including NYE/NYD) attract a 50% surcharge to service rate. 

*A booking contract is to be acknowledged and signed by all parties prior to a photo shoot/ event booking.

*A minimal travel fee applies for all bookings 25km or greater from Narangba CBD by road.

*Services and a set-price promise are guaranteed once a deposit has been paid and date confirmed. Deposit refund conditions apply.​

*General services and rates are subject to vary at any time without notice. Online rates are indicative of starting rates and apply at time of query.

*Quotes (without a booking) VOID 60 days from quotation unless stipulated in writing.

*Pixels and Spice Photography reserves the right to display any client images on our websites, social media, and marketing materials (print or online), unless otherwise discussed and acknowledged during consultation.
